We are LA2DAY.COM (
http://www.la2day.com), an up & coming online lifestyle magazine that focuses on talent just outside of the mainstream. Our goal as a magazine is to expose the public to visionary artists that the mass media overlooks. We are a forward thinking business in that we explore new methods of marketing, and encourage an enjoyable, yet productive atmosphere amongst our staff. This is a great way to build your resumé.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
People who are knowledgeable about a specific genre. Currently, we are looking for additional part-time MUSIC writers for the following:
*Hip-Hop - Writers who are versed in the underground scene and can write about artists like MF Doom, Little Brother, Atmosphere, Quasimoto, Common, The Roots, Bahamadia, etc, The world of positive, grass roots Hip-Hop is huge, show us how big...
*Soul/R&B – Outside the box: Vikter Duplaix, Rednose Distrikt, Omar, Georgia Anne Muldrow, Raul Midon, Sa-Ra, etc. Garth Trinidad’s ‘Chocolate City’ for KCRW is a good place to start.
*Alternative/Pop – Again, outside of the mainstream or just on the cusp. Think Nic Harcourt’s ‘Morning Becomes Eclectic’. Bats For Lashes, The Notwist, Double U, Healamonster, etc. Tell us who else…
*Rock/Metal/Punk – Edgy and slightly under the radar, or deep underground. Lightning Bolt, The Horrors, Hella, The Mars Volta, Pelican, Red Sparowes, The Time Flys, etc. You tell us.
*Electronica (House, Techno, Trip-Hop, Broken Beat, Drum and Bass, Industrial, Electro) - Think leftfield acts such as Massive Attack, Spacek, Swayzak, Burial, Osunlade, etc. Surprise us.
*Jazz/Lounge – We need someone who can identify what is good and who is into the scene in LA and beyond. Robert Glasper, Terrence Blanchard, Pink Martini, Koop, Madeleine Peyroux, Michael Bublé, etc.
*World Beat (Reggae, African, Afro-Beat, Samba, Salsa, Reggaeton) – Zap Mama, Vieux Farka Touré, Tita Lima, Midnite, etc. Tell us what’s hot in these circles.
WHAT WE DO:
Our online magazine works closely with the writers in establishing a relationship and helping the writers build a portfolio and an online presence. Writers go through a 3 month volunteer process; after which, a quality assessment will determine the continuation of the relationship. If positive, writers will begin receiving compensation on a per article basis. We currently have a great team of over 30 enthusiastic and creative talents. We are now looking to fill the last positions within the writing team.
