PURPOSE OF POSITION:



Brand Design Group is seeking a highly talented, fashion-experienced, art director and manager to oversee the Barbie Brand Design Team and re-ignite, revolutionize and stimulate the Barbie Branding materials.



KEY RESULTS AREAS:



' Managing a creative team of Barbie designers, managing workload, priorities, deadlines and raising the bar every day on creative.

' Presenting Barbie Creative work to Creative Director, VP, Senior VP, and clients on a regular basis.

' Prioritizing and responding to changing issues, coping with the unexpected, managing different time zones (international) and operating effectively under extremely high volumes of work with tight deadlines.

' Infusing design inspiration to the team ' on graphic design, typography, photography, production, television, etc.

' Oversee projects ranging from Print Advertising, Packaging design, Presentations, catalogs, television advertising, and brand guidelines.

' Take the Barbie Brand creative to the next level.



COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:



' A conceptual thinker from concept, to design, to typography, to production

' Capable of designing logos, print advertising, packaging, collateral, events

' A strong understanding of television advertising

' Strong art direction skill on fashion and product photo shoots

' Excellent computer skills: CS2, QuarkXpress,

' Portfolio should display excellent design skills, strong grasp of typography and projects that demonstrate and understanding of branding.

' Ability to foster a creative, collaborative, cooperative and exciting team environment

' Excellent organizational and time management skills

' Good written and oral communication skills

' Attention to detail

' Ability to 'multi-task' is essential - be able to organize and prioritize

' Strong understanding of our industry (Branding, Fashion, Design, Advertising)

' Ability Create/maintain relationships with outside copywriters and freelance designers



EDUCATION REQUIRED:



BFA, BS, MFA (optional), or degree from a reputable design school



EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS REQUIRED:



' 5+ years experience in graphic design/art direction

' Management experience

' Possess knowledge of and experience in a variety of areas: typography, advertising, fashion, photography, new media, web, pop culture, toys, events

' Experience working across internal functions

' Project budget forecasting, management, analysis and reporting

' Knowledge of the industry (Branding, Design, Advertising)
